Unconditional support for women and their families during pregnancy, labour and into the fourth trimester

Hello and welcome,

I'm Claire, a birth, postnatal and infant loss doula based in Leeds & covering most of Yorkshire.

When I am not doulaing, I co-facilitate the Leeds Positive Birth group, am a trained baby-wearing peer supporter, trained ABM breastfeeding peer supporter, member of the Leeds Maternity Voice Partnership and mother to two amazing daughters (see above picture when they were much smaller and squishier).

When I was expecting my first baby in 2014, I was introduced to the Positive Birth movement in Leeds. A wonderful new world of *magical* birth workers—who were changing the world one birth at a time—opened up to me. I had discovered my true calling in life. I wanted to do what they were doing and support families at this most transformative time in their lives whilst also standing up for human rights in childbirth.

So, after my first year as a mother (with its highs and lows, making me all the more passionate that good postnatal care is essential) I trained as a birth and postnatal doula with Developing Doulas and became a part of the amazing non-profit organisation Doula UK (you can find my doula profile here). I have since spent all of my spare time training, and researching all things pregnancy, birth and the fourth trimester.

I am passionate that pregnancy, birth, and new parenthood should be far more valued in our society. I believe that parents should be given everything they need to be able to confidently make informed birth choices to enable them to feel empowered, calm and in control - whether things go exactly as planned or a variation of it.

I have supported homebirths, waterbirths, births in birthing centres and midwife-led units, caesarian births, VBACs, hypnobirthing, and women giving birth for the first, second and third time. I have also supported women through pregnancy loss and am trained in bereavement, pregnancy and infant loss.

Get in touch and if you would like to chat more about how I can support you on your birth journey.
